Externships

Immersion in multidisciplinary medicine

The Mont-Laurier Family Medicine Group welcomes interns for four to six weeks externships. The Mont-Laurier GMF-U is unique in that it offers a diversified practice in a rural setting with multiple clienteles. The Mont-Laurier GMF-U is affiliated with the Université de Montréal. Our teaching physicians are passionate about their work, and have the skills and enthusiasm to welcome external trainees and integrate them into a team where professionalism and fun go hand in hand.

A dynamic environment and professional teams

Our trainees are immersed in the heart of their profession in a stimulating and professional environment. With the supervision of a teaching physician focused on learning, but also on human relations with integrity, externs are directed towards their interests in task planning. The program portrays the day-to-day life of a general practitioner, with the diversification that comes with a rural setting. Every day is different at the Mont-Laurier GMF-U. Trainees have the opportunity to experience a variety of settings:

  • Emergency clinic
  • Minor surgery clinic
  • Infiltration clinic
  • Intensive care
  • CHSLD
  • Hospitalization
